Twenty-First Century Skills Included and Those Proposed to Be Included in the English Language Textbooks for the First Three Basic Grades in Jordan

This study aimed to identify the twenty-first century skills included and those proposed to be included in the English language textbooks for the first three basic grades in Jordan. A content analysis research design was employed, where an analysis instrument was designed and then employed after verifying its validity and reliability.
The results of the study revealed that the most dominant skills presented in the textbooks were the skills within the domains of Learning and Innovation and Life Skills, with percentage of 60.6% and 39.4% for the first-grade textbook, while it was of 60.2% and 39.8% for the second grade textbook, and was of 61.7% and 38.3% for the third grade textbook. Whereas, for the domain of Information and Technology skills, none of its skills were included in any of the targeted textbooks.
In light of the results, it was recommended to revise the English language textbooks used for the first three basic grades in terms of the inclusion of activities related to the domain of information and technology skills.
