Abstract

This study aimed at revealing the extent to which Islamic Education Textbooks of the first three primary grades consider the psychological foundations of the curriculum, from the point of view of their teachers in Jordan. The study sample consisted of (100) female classroom teachers in Tafila Directorae, in the second semester of the academic year 2015 / 2016. The study used the descriptive survey. To achieve the goal of the study, the researchers developed a classification for psychological foundations, and concluded the following prominent results: the religious dimension has obtained the highest mean, amounted to (4.58), and the mental dimension was the least of all amounted to (4.12). The study also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences attributed to the study variables (academic Qualification, experience, class) or the interaction among them. The study recommended developing the Islamic Education Textbooks for the first three primary grades to increase their efficiency. It also recommended conducting further evaluation studies of the Islamic Education textbooks for the primary levels.
