The Impact of Using Generative Artificial Intelligence "Socrat" on Enhancing Motivation to Learn Digital Skills among Eleventh-Grade Students in Jordan

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effect of using the generative artificial intelligence-supported platform Socrat on improving the motivation of eleventh-grade students toward learning digital skills. The study adopted a quasi-experimental design and involved 60 male eleventh-grade students at a private secondary school in Irbid City, undertaking the national digital skills curriculum during the second semester of the scholastic year 2024/2025. Study subjects were assigned to a control group (30) of students studied by the conventional method and an experimental group (30) of students studied by the AI-supported Socrat platform. To achieve the objective of the study, a motivation scale consisting of 45 items covering five key domains: Intrinsic Motivation toward Learning Digital Skills, Interaction with Digital Content, Digital Skills Development, Goal Orientation, and Self-Directed Learning, were developed and applied after verifying its validity and reliability. The results revealed statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group across four of the five motivational domains. These findings support the integration of generative artificial intelligence to enhance student motivation, especially in digitally enriched learning environments.
