The study aimed to investigate the impact of a chess training program based on cognitive depth in improving the ability to solve mathematical problems among sixth grade students. The program and the mathematical problem solving test were prepared and their validity and reliability were assured. The study sample was selected from three accessible schools in Irbid Education Directorate, a class of 20 female students was randomly selected from each school, and the three classes were divided into two experimental groups and control group (chess program, Normal chess, and control group). A pre-post-test for solving the mathematical problem was applied to the study groups. The results showed that the chess program group outperformed the regular chess and control groups, and the normal group outperformed the control group. The study provided a set of recommendations, the most important of which were allocating chess quotas in the school curriculum, Training teachers on chess as an educational method.
