The Degree of Geography Teachers Practice of Higher-Order Thinking Skills from the Point of View of Secondary School Students in Zarqa Governorate

This study aimed to reveal the degree to which geography teachers at the secondary stage in Zarqa Governorate practice higher-order thinking skills in its two dimensions (creative thinking skills and metacognitive thinking skills) from the point of view of students. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher relied on the descriptive analytical methodology, and the study sample consisted of (753) male and female secondary school students. The study reached several results, namely the low degree of practice of higher-order thinking skills by geography teachers in the secondary stage from the students’ point of view. The mean of the answers of the study sample subjects regarding the degree of practice of creative thinking skills by geography teachers in the secondary stage was (3.27). The mean of metacognitive thinking skills was (3.32). The study also showed that there were statistically significant differences in the opinions of the respondents about the degree to which geography teachers practice higher thinking skills from due to gender, at the significance level (0.000).
