Psychological Stress and its Relationship to Quality of Life among Sample of Mothers of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the State of Kuwait

The study aimed to find out the psychological stress and their relationship to the quality of life among a sample of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder in the State of Kuwait. The descriptive correlational methodology was used, and the sample consisted of (158) mothers of children enrolled in special education centers and schools, and they were selected in the most convenient way. The results showed that the psychological stress among mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder were at a moderate level, and that the quality of life among mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder in the State of Kuwait was at a “high” level. It was found that there was a statistically significant inverse negative relationship between psychological stress and the quality of life for children. Mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder in the State of Kuwait, and the absence of statistically significant differences between the levels of psychological stress among spectrum disorder due to the variable of the mother’s educational qualification. Among the most prominent recommendations presented by the research is spreading awareness and urging mothers to pay attention to their mental and physical health to improve their quality of life. Increasing their ability to deal with the daily challenges resulting from the presence of a child.
