Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of using the SWOM strategy in solving problems in mathematics among tenth grade students in Jordan in light of their motivation towards learning it. The study adopted the experimental methodology based on the quasi-experimental design.  The study members were selected from the basic tenth grade student in a private school in the capital, Amman, Jordan, and two divisions were randomly assigned to it. One of them is experimental, studied according to the strategy of the (SWOM), and the other is a control one, that studied according to the usual method, the number of members of the experimental group was (40) students, and the number of members of the control group (40) students. The problem-solving test and a motivation scale for study purposes were used the results showed that there were statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05) in solving mathematics problem attributed to the teaching method, and in favor of the experimental group, which was studied according to the (SWOM) strategy, While the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences (α = 0.05) in problem solving due to the interaction between the teaching method (the (SWOM) strategy, the usual method) and motivation (high, low). The study recommended mathematics teachers to adopt (SWOM) strategy in their teaching mathematics.
