The Prevailing Educational Philosophy among Public School Teachers in the Directorate for Education of the Irbid Qasabah District

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the prevailing educational philosophy of public school teachers in the directorate of education of the Irbid qasabah district. The study sample consisted of (350) male and female teachers. The study used the descriptive survey methodology, by developing a questionnaire consisted of (40) items, distributed on four domains (idealism, realism, existentialism, and pragmatism). The results of the study showed that the prevailing educational philosophy among public school teachers in the directorate of education of the Irbid qasabah district is the pragmatic philosophy, then the realistic philosophy, then the existential philosophy, and finally the idealistic philosophy. Also, there was no statistically significant difference in the study sample responses due to gender, and due to academic qualification, except idealism philosophy, in favor of PhD category.
